Welcome to Hooked on Walking holidays and our walking holidays in Spain. This hiking vacation in Spain is in the region of Asturias in northern Spain. This walking tour is available as a level 2 self guided trip. You will travel on foot along the lovely shores of eastern Asturias, through the green coastal hills between the Bay of Biscay and the Picos de Europa mountain range in northern Spain. From beautiful white sandy beaches and tiny coves, look inland over green fields with grazing cows to snowy peaks in the distance. Following parts of the nothern variant of the Camino de Santiago (St. James’ Way), you will discover picturesque villages with interesting local architecture and spectacular natural blow holes where the Cantabrian Sea shoots up through perforated limestone cliffs. Your trip ends in Llanes, a welcoming fishing village with a wonderful historical medieval centre.

Day 1 Arrival in Vilde Arrive to Vilde on the River Deva just south of Unquera.
Day 2: Circular walk 7 miles , 11.5km , walking time 4.5 hours up/down 360m Today you will take a circular walk along the Deva from Bustio to the ruins of Santa Tina monastery, passed the 16th-century San Emeterio church and through dwarf oak and strawberry tree groves. You will also have a chance to visit a cave with interesting prehistoric paintings.
Day 3 Vilde to El Cereceu 9 miles, 14.5km , walking time 4.5 hours, up/down 260/170m Today you walk from village to village along winding rural tracks through the landscape of Rio Cabra (Goat River) valley, passing three restored watermills along the way. Wonderful views of the sea and the high mountains of the Picos in the distance.
Day 4 Circular walk 7.5 miles , 12km , walking time 4.5 hours , up/down 500m Today a beautiful circular walk on farming tracks and footpaths through fields ringed by drystone walls. You will have the option to ascend to Cerro Liño (1180m) for breathtaking views to the high peaks of the Picos de Europa.
Day 5 El Cereceu to Cué 9.3 miles , 15km , walking time 5 hours, up/down 260/320m Today you will walk down towards the rocky coastline with a choice of then following a fishermen’s path along the cliffs or a wide rural track just inland. Visit the gorgeous beaches of Andrín and Ballota along the way , enjoying views to the sea all day.
Day 6 Cué to Prau-Ríu 8.5 miles, 13.7km , walking time 5-6 hours up/down 520m Today you have two options. Either a tough mountainous walk into the Viango valley, which is separated from the sea by a dramatic rocky ridge, with stunning views and the relaxing music of cowbells off in the distance. If this is too much for you maybe a morning paddle at the beach in Cué with a short afternoon walk directly to your next accommodation, where you’ll enjoy lovely views from the terrace.
Day 7 Prau-Ríu to Llanes 7 miles, 11.5km walking time 4 hours Today the lovely rural route lead you to the tiny village of Porrúa with its interesting ethnographical museum. You then swing back out to the coast to follow a fishermen’s path. On the way, the lovely beaches of San Martín and Poo are passed. Finally you reach the lively town of Llanes, where you can celebrate with some tapas and apple cider in true Asturian style.
Day 8 Departure
Difficulty : This is a level 2 tour with some chances of optional more challenging walks
Accommodation: you stay in good, family-run pensions situated in typical white-washed Moorish villages. Vilde - Agroturismo Muriances A former flour mill and bakery, this restored stone and wood building is situated on a family-run working farm. Lovely natural setting by the Cares-Deva River, among fields with views to the green hills of the coastal range. La Borbolla de Llanes - Hotel El Otero Welcoming family-run hotel with large garden and private swimming pool, in a lovely valley at the foot of the Sierra del Cuera coastal range, overlooking the Cantabrian Sea. Cué - Hotel Migal Family-run hotel with its own restaurant, in a marvelous location among green fields and right on the coast. The lovely beaches of eastern Asturias are just minutes away. Prau-Ríu de Llanes - Hotel Prau-Ríu Llanes - Gran Hotel Paraiso Situated in the village centre, this classic hotel provides totally modern services from its convenient location on the sea, with the beach just 500m away.
