We are just back from our Family in Catalonia Cycling Trip in Spain. We had the most wonderful time. I think we were the only Cycling Tourists (in fact we were the only tourists in hotels we stayed in) because November doesn't seem to be a popular tourism month. Lucky for us the weather was unseasonably warm .... mornings were cool but it hit the 20's each day and no rain.
Everything went very smoothly. The hosts for the hostels bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable.
We loved having the topo map as well as the written instructions because it gave us many more options to expand our days or alter routes to suit our daily plans. We have never seen such a 'Bike Friendly' country! The bicycle routes are so well marked with signage and stickers that it was just a joy to head out and explore that incredibly gorgeous countryside. Seeing the Costa Brava a few times was such a great bonus for this trip. We just loved it.

Our holiday experience overall was excellent , of particular note was that the bikes were new, fit for purpose and well sorted.  The organisation was exemplary . The routes were very well thought out and easy to follow. John provided magnificent support on a daily basis, taking the trouble to follow our route until he caught up with us to establish that we were OK, before moving on to complete delivery of our luggage. John and Terry also took the trouble to revalidate the routes where necessary as there has evidently been a substantial road repair program under way in the region for some months. Route changes were therefore communicated to us in a very timely manner. Terry and John also met up with us on the final day to ask for feedback and to discuss any ideas the we had to develop the style of holidays on offer via Hooked on Cycling. I will certainly be in touch with you on this later in the year as we are keen to further explore this region of Spain.

We are back in Australia and just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time on our cycling holiday in the Asturias. Everything went very well with no complications. I hope the bike was collected without any problems from the hotel in Gijon, we left it in the back restaurant on the instructions of the hotel staff. Just wanted to say how special the first accommodation was - Agrotourismo Muriances, the family were lovely and the food superb, it was a highlight. The farm in Arguero was also excellent.

We had a very memorable and enjoyable holiday indeed, despite some challenging weather conditions – hailstorms one day, and the mountain refuge surrounded by snowfields. The success of our trip was entirely due to the help, local knowledge and expertise of your local lady Maria. She adjusted our itinerary to suit the weather conditions, and suggested amalgamating and adapting the suggested routes to suit our particular interests and ability to walk further each day than anticipated . We’ve now arrived in Santiago, and had a good holiday. The bikes were great, a bell would have been useful to warn pilgrims of us arriving !. The maps ok, perhaps not as exact as we would have liked, and it was difficult to read the detailed instructions in the “Route/Maps”. The hotels fine, everyone was a credit.

Just to say thank you very much indeed for introducing us to the delights of the Sierra de Aracena. We thoroughly enjoyed our recent holiday there. Lucy and Angel were superb hosts and ensured that we were well looked after at the other hotels, too. The route photos made navigation straightforward and the chosen walks were always full of interest, taking us through a variety of terrain. We were delighted with the bird life, the wild flowers and the tranquillity. We'd certainly recommend this holiday wholeheartedly.

Just to let you know that we really enjoyed our walk from 19th to 26th October, despite mixed weather and a 5 hour soaking on the most exposed mountain day !! The route is well planned with good use of hotels and transport to the start of the walks. The courier in Mallorca was helpful and friendly as was his driver who operated a 'private' service for us as there was just the two of us. We thought all the accommodation to be well selected and enjoyed the monastery even though the rooms were more 'basic' . The food at the restaurant next to the monastery was exceptionally good.

Does your site have a feedback facility?- we would love to tell visitors to it about our fantastic experience on the Cycle and Culture self guided tour out of Alhama de Granada we completed a couple of weeks ago.
On a more personal feedback note we would like to express our admiration for your ground handler Terry (and his partner Lisa) - an absolutely fantastic guy in terms of how he supported us. Since the tour was self guided and we had already received the route guides etc we expected to be collected from the train station and taken to our first hotel, given the bikes and told 'have a great time, call me if you need me, see you in a week'. No way. Terry was the ultimate host, settled us in, spent time with us not only talking through the route, but giving us tips and sharing local advice and information with us, offered the use of the office computer so we could check our email, he went out of his way to ensure we had bikes that suited us, was there for us every second day to make sure we were all good for the next leg, texted us when he found there was road hazard we needed to watch for, followed up at one point when there was some question whether we had got to our hotel, and then to top it all off, he and Lisa took us out for an evening of tapas bar crawling once we got back to Alhama de Granada - and from our conversations that evening we learned so much more about the local people and their lives. You really do have a top man on the spot there, and a man who is clearly passionate about his work.
The extra night in Montefrio that the tour description suggests was a great option, we would recommend you really push that as a value added feature.

Pleased to report a successful holiday. We particularly enjoyed the hotel at Sotres with the excellent service and cuisine, and a complimentary bottle of wine (sometimes rioja) each night at the meal table. The hotel at Cabrales was comfortable and the crowning glory was the cheese festival at the end! The walking was a good mix.

Sue and I have now completed our Hooked on Walking trip to Ordesa (Torla and Nerin) and the Pyrenees. We had a great time - very much enjoyed all the walks and were fortunate to have great weather for most of the days.

I wanted to give you feedback on our Andalusia tour. I'm delighted to say that we had a superb trip in all respects, but of particular note were that the route was extremely well designed and constructed, a lot of thought and planning had clearly gone into it. Road surfaces were almost exclusively of fantastic quality. Our 4 hotels were ideal for the purpose, and their locations were good too. We had full confidence in all of the logistics, directions and distances were precise and accurate, luggage transfers very smooth and generally everything seemed to have been anticipated and planned in detail.

Sally and I have just returned from our Hooked-on-Cycling holiday in Northern Spain. What a well organized (especially at such short notice) and well structured tour. The accommodation was all excellent and the route book was nearly flawless. I think we took the wrong turning twice in the whole trip but it only cost us an extra 50m each time to spot our mistake.

Once again another excellent Hooked on Walking experience! We would rate this 5 for everything. The walk to Tavertet is stunning – totally different to what I expected. Casa de Pages El Jufre is perched on the top of a canyon with fantastic views. The walk to Sant Julia de Vilatora was the longest day for us, but not difficult walking. The Hostal-fonda Ca La Manyana is worth the distance – LUXURY.  We did not expect the hotel to be so good. The dinner was beautiful and the breakfast to die for. Another fantastic holiday – thank you

Just to let you know that we all thoroughly enjoyed our Picos de Europa hike.  The scenery there is great, the mountains are very picturesque and there is loads to see with birds, animals and flowers too. The hiking all went very well, no problems with following the routes or maps.  We did quite a lot of additional hiking up peaks and passes as my brother is a very fit hiker and enjoys going 'off piste' as it were.
